Destro AI Unveils ‘Agentic AI Brain’ to Unify Robot and Human Operations

Destro AI has emerged from stealth mode with the launch of its Agentic AI Brain, a centralized intelligence system designed to coordinate robots and humans as a unified adaptive system. The Brooklyn-based company made its public debut at Manifest, showcasing live deployments of its technology in production environments.

The Problem with Current Robotics

According to Destro, today’s robot deployments suffer from siloed intelligence – robots make local decisions while humans and legacy systems handle planning, prioritization, and exception management. This division creates scalability limitations and forces operations teams to manually coordinate what should be autonomous behavior.

As Manthan Pawar, founder and CEO of Destro AI, explained: “Robots today are smart locally, but dumb collectively. We’re building the brain that lets robot agents and humans operate as one system.” He further noted that the fragmentation of robotics solutions is why many warehouses haven’t adopted robots, as isolated robots cannot solve complex operational problems.

How the Agentic AI Brain Works

The Agentic AI Brain functions as a shared intelligence layer for both robots and human collaborators, combining off-robot reasoning with on-robot execution. The system continuously:

  • Assesses the state of the physical environment
  • Decides what actions should happen next
  • Dynamically directs robots and people to execute work together

Two key components of the system include MothershipOS, a cloud-based orchestration engine that works across different workflows and hardware, and VisionOS, which collects data for training embodied AI using smart glasses. VisionOS can autonomously count boxes and SKUs while simultaneously building robot models.

A New Approach to Robotics

Rather than treating robots as isolated machines performing predefined tasks, Destro treats them as agents capable of receiving goals, adapting to changing conditions, and coordinating with other agents and humans in real time. Intelligence exists both off the robot (for higher-level reasoning and orchestration) and on the robot (for execution and local autonomy).

The platform operates above individual robot hardware, enabling the same intelligence layer to guide different robot types, tools, and human roles without rigid process definitions. This approach allows systems to adapt to real-world variability such as missed handoffs, congestion, shifting priorities, and exceptions without operational stoppage or human micromanagement.

Initial Deployments and Results

Destro is currently deploying its Agentic AI Brain with large logistics and retail operators, focusing on high-variability physical workflows where traditional automation struggles. Early deployments have shown improvements in system-level throughput, resilience, and human-robot collaboration by reducing idle time, unnecessary handoffs, and reactive decision-making.

One example highlighted by Pawar involves cross-docking workflows, where containers move in and out with complex sortation requirements. Even without automated storage, agentic AI can help make millions of real-time decisions determining destinations for robots and carts.

The Future Vision

At Manifest 2026, Destro demonstrated how its agentic system reasons across the physical environment by assigning goals, coordinating robot agents, and guiding human collaboration as conditions change in real time.

As Pawar summarized: “The future of automation isn’t more scripts or dashboards. It’s shared intelligence across humans and robots.” This vision represents the category Destro aims to build and define in the robotics and automation industry.
