LG to Unveil CLOiD Humanoid Robot at CES 2026: A New Home Assistant

LG Electronics is set to showcase its latest innovation in robotics, the LG CLOiD humanoid robot, at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. This new addition to the CLOi robot family represents LG’s venture into more sophisticated home assistance technology.

Key Features of the LG CLOiD

While full-body images haven’t been released yet, LG has described CLOiD as humanoid in appearance with advanced capabilities including:

  • Dual seven degree-of-freedom arms
  • Five-fingered hands for dexterous manipulation
  • Integrated display, speaker, cameras, and sensors
  • Natural voice interaction capabilities
  • Intelligent navigation systems

The “D” in CLOiD stands for “Dynamic,” though the “-oid” suffix suggests its humanoid design. Based on LG’s existing CLOi lineup of wheeled service robots, it’s likely that CLOiD will also use a wheeled base rather than legs.

Intended Use and Positioning

LG is positioning CLOiD as a household assistant designed to perform various indoor tasks, though specific launch capabilities remain undisclosed. The marketing message “Zero-Labor Home Makes Quality Time” indicates LG’s vision of technology that reduces daily chores, allowing users to focus on meaningful interactions.

This new robot joins LG’s existing CLOi lineup, which has already been deployed in commercial settings including retail, restaurants, and hospitality.

LG’s Robotics Strategy

LG is pursuing a two-pronged approach to strengthen its robotics portfolio:

  • Internal R&D through its HS Robotics Lab within the Home Appliance Solution Company
  • Strategic investments in robotics companies including Figure AI, Agibot, and Dyna Robotics
  • Partnerships with domestic entities like KIST and ROBOTIS (in which LG owns 7.36% equity)

These investments and partnerships aim to advance home robot safety and foundational AI modeling.

Potential Challenges

Despite LG’s manufacturing capabilities and global brand recognition, CLOiD may face the same AI functionality limitations that challenge other home-based humanoid robots. The success of the product will likely depend on how effectively it can perform practical household tasks.

CES 2026 Showcase

Visitors to CES 2026 can see CLOiD and other LG products at Booth 15004 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
