Wyoming Sheriff Puzzled by Year-Long UFO Sightings Near Power Plant

For over a year, officials in Sweetwater County, Wyoming have been investigating mysterious UFO sightings that seem particularly focused on the Jim Bridger Steam Plant, a local power facility with four coal-fired generators.

The Ongoing Mystery

Sheriff John Grossnickle of Sweetwater County has been dealing with reports of unidentified flying objects for more than 13 months, eventually witnessing them himself. According to sheriff’s spokesperson Jason Mower, local authorities have exhausted their resources trying to identify these objects without success.

The UFOs are described as “lighted” and “drone-like,” appearing in “coordinated formations” typically between 2am and 3am. They fly thousands of feet above ground, making them impossible to shoot down.

Regional Phenomenon

The mystery extends beyond Sweetwater County. Seven sheriffs from neighboring counties have either personally observed similar objects or received reports from residents. In January, three sheriffs documented sightings specifically above energy infrastructure, including oil fields and power plants.

Wyoming National Guard adjutant general Greg Porter has been reluctant to discuss the matter openly, stating he “doesn’t think he could discuss [them] in open testimony.”

The New Normal

Mower described the situation as becoming “the new normal” – a continuing phenomenon that hasn’t caused any immediate problems beyond their mysterious presence. This stands in contrast to a similar drone mystery in New Jersey that was eventually attributed to FAA-authorized research according to former President Donald Trump.

Key Takeaways

  • UFO sightings have persisted for over a year near a Wyoming power plant
  • Objects appear in coordinated formations at night
  • Multiple county sheriffs have reported similar sightings
  • The objects seem particularly interested in energy infrastructure
  • Despite investigation, authorities have been unable to identify their source

The Wyoming situation remains unresolved, with local officials continuing to monitor the unexplained aerial activity while awaiting answers from higher authorities.
