Comau Expands Collaborative Robotics with New MyCo Cobot Family

Comau S.p.A. has launched MyCo, a new family of collaborative robots designed to enhance human-robot collaboration across various industries. This expansion aligns with Comau’s diversification strategy in response to the growing collaborative robotics market, which is projected to see a 15% compound annual growth rate from 2024 to 2028.

Key Features of the MyCo Cobot Family

The MyCo lineup consists of six lightweight collaborative robots with impressive specifications:

  • Payload capacities ranging from 3 to 15 kg (6.6 to 33.1 lb.)
  • Reach capabilities between 590 and 1,300 mm (23.2 and 51.2 in.)
  • Repeatability as precise as ±0.02mm
  • IP54 protection standard with optional IP66 upgrade for harsh environments
  • Force- and power-limited design for safe human-robot collaboration

Benefits and Applications

The MyCo cobots offer several advantages for manufacturers:

  • Quick installation and intuitive programming for rapid deployment
  • Simplified integration and adaptation to changing production requirements
  • Ergonomic design enabling close human-robot collaboration
  • Optimized floor space utilization and operational safety
  • Compatibility with Robot Operating System/ROS 2
  • Multiple mounting options (floor, wall, ceiling, or inclined)

These collaborative robots are particularly suited for applications in warehousing, intralogistics, packaging, arc welding, and light assembly. The growing demand in non-traditional sectors such as food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, and logistics is driving the expansion of collaborative robotics.

Comau’s Strategic Direction

Stefania Ferrero, Chief Marketing Officer at Comau, emphasized that MyCo represents a concrete step in accelerating the company’s diversification strategy. The new cobot family provides a cost-effective and versatile solution to address market trends, offering flexibility and user-friendliness in dynamic environments.

Comau’s approach combines application and process expertise with user-friendly digital tools, allowing customers to select the optimal solution from its portfolio of industrial and collaborative robots based on specific production needs. This flexibility is enhanced by advanced vision systems, Internet of Things capabilities, and strategic partnerships with leading end-effector partners.
