At CES 2026, Doosan Bobcat introduced a suite of innovative technologies aimed at transforming the construction industry through AI, autonomy, and electrification. The company’s showcase featured several groundbreaking solutions designed to enhance productivity and simplify operations on modern jobsites.
The RX3 Concept Loader: Versatility and Autonomy
The centerpiece of Bobcat’s presentation was the third-generation RogueX3 (RX3), an electric-powered autonomous loader with a compact footprint similar to existing Bobcat machines. What sets the RX3 apart is its remarkable versatility through modular design, allowing for interchangeable components including:
- Configurable cab options (with or without cab)
- Choice of wheels or tracks for different terrains
- Various lift arm configurations
- Multiple power options (electric, diesel, hybrid, or hydrogen)
The tracked design provides excellent traction across diverse work surfaces, while its quiet operation makes it suitable for noise-sensitive environments.
AI-Enabled Features for Enhanced Operation
Bobcat also unveiled the Jobsite Companion, an AI-powered feature for compact construction equipment that uses a proprietary large language model to provide real-time support. This innovation automates over 50 functions without requiring cloud connectivity, offering voice and display guidance that benefits both novice and experienced operators.
According to Joel Honeyman, Bobcat’s vice president of global innovation, “Jobsite Companion lowers the barrier to entry for new operators while helping experienced professionals work faster and more precisely.”
Additional Technological Innovations
Complementing these major announcements were several other forward-thinking technologies:
- Collision warning and avoidance system using imaging radar to prevent accidents
- Transparent MicroLED display integrated into cab windows that overlays crucial data onto the operator’s field of vision
- Bobcat Standard Unit Pack (BSUP), a modular battery system designed for harsh construction environments
- Service.AI platform providing technicians with instant access to repair information and diagnostic guidance
Doosan Robotics, a related company, also demonstrated its AI-Powered Depalletizing system, autonomous robotic solution for composites repair, and a partnership with Maple Advanced Robotics for finishing large structures.
Industry Impact and Future Direction
These innovations reflect Bobcat’s strategic pivot toward integrating advanced technologies into construction equipment. As Scott Park, vice chairman and CEO of Doosan Bobcat, explained: “For nearly 70 years, Bobcat has led the compact equipment industry by solving real problems for real people. Today, as workforce needs change and jobsites become more complex, we’re responding with intelligent systems that empower people to accomplish more, faster, and smarter.”
While many of these technologies are currently in prototype or concept stages, they signal Bobcat’s vision for the future of construction – one where AI, autonomy, and electrification work together to enhance efficiency, safety, and productivity on jobsites worldwide.
